Calculation method and physical assumptions

Position is converted from pixels using the measured ruler, chosen origin and axis rotation. Velocity and acceleration come from local quadratic least-squares fits using actual observation timestamps. Predicted and low-confidence observations are never treated as measurements. A very short automatic dropout (up to two frames) may be bridged by reliable observations on both sides so one uncertain frame does not erase a much larger derivative interval; that bridge is drawn dashed. Truly missing/deleted intervals and longer unreliable runs remain hard discontinuities. Kinetic energy is ½mv².

  • The camera must remain fixed, without digital or optical zoom.
  • The object and reference ruler must lie in the same approximately planar depth region.
  • Perspective and lens distortion are not corrected; calibrate near the tracked motion.
  • The marker must represent the same physical point and the entered mass must remain constant.
  • For MP4/MOV and WebM footage, source frame count and per-frame timestamps are read from the container when available, including variable-frame-rate recordings. Browser presentation-rate estimation is used only as a fallback and is explicitly identified as such.

Operating guide

Manual precision with corrigible automation

  1. Import a local video. MP4/MOV and WebM frame timestamps are read directly when available; use the manual FPS override only when exact source timing cannot be recovered.
  2. In Analyze, choose Measure ruler, click the ends of a known distance, and enter its real separation in metres, centimetres or millimetres.
  3. Place a manual point, or drag a target rectangle around the object and run automatic tracking. Use Fast motion + blur for rapidly moving, smeared objects.
  4. Pause and resume a run at frame boundaries, stop it while retaining completed points, or cut the selected trajectory after the current frame.
  5. Use Delete IN–OUT to remove a selected interval, Reset track to clear its path, or the delete icon to remove the object track entirely.
  6. In Analyze, choose 1, 2 or 4 simultaneous graphs. Motion overview opens velocity, position, acceleration and energy together; synchronized axes let the panels show the same time interval.
  7. Toggle series through the legend; hover for values, click to seek, wheel to zoom, and drag to pan. Quick export produces a derived CSV, complete ZIP bundle, or clipboard summary without opening the Project workspace.
  8. Correct a dubious point by dragging it. The correction becomes a trusted anchor.
  9. Use constrained repair to recompute only the interval between surrounding anchors.
  10. For many experiments, open Batch and add or drag in all source videos. Configure each target/range in sequence while earlier ready jobs process in parallel. Jobs needing attention are collected under Review.
  11. Batch results can be compared as summary bars or overlaid time-series traces. Review flagged jobs in sequence, then export one ZIP containing comparison tables, all samples, raw observations and every individual project.

Projects store analysis state but not the video itself. Re-import the original video after reopening a project.
